Activistas in The Gambia have had great succes taking the HungerFREE campaign to the streets where they have been mobilising young people to end hunger by keeping world leaders on their toes. Through music shows with celebrity musicians young people were mobilised to send HungerFREE messages to the Gambian government and world leaders. Through these activities ActionAid, Activista and other parts of civil society have already achieved a doubling of the national budget for agriculture! Activista in the Gambia works through the organistion AYCAH, involving and training youth volunteers to fight for the right to a life in dignity.

Activista The Gambia set for their strategy planning and National congress from the 11th to the 15th January 2012 at the YMCA just close to the activista head office. Five Delegates will be coming from each region including the focal person of each region. The strategy planing will be made by the delegates who represent their various regions and will make decisions as to how Activista The Gambia should work in the next three years. The national board of governance will also be elected by the regional delegates on the 14th January 2012 and early morning departure.
