Brazil: 300 people beating empty plates with spoons in the parliament hall on 1st of October. 300 young students at the UN model seminar joined the Activistas to make noise on World Food Dat. 2000 people made noise in nine night clubs in Rio de Janeiro. 500 people in three different communities joined the make noise event. |

Kenya: More than 1000 people attended the launch of a publication on Women’s rights to land and property on the 15th of October. Activista was represented by one of the Activista key groups called Kwacha Africa. Here the one minute noise was made. Around 1000 people also attended the big function in North East Kenya on World Food Day. On the 17th a huge concert was organized in Nairobi, drawing around 1500 people. |
| Nepal: 15567 persons made noise at 17 events in the districts and the capital of Kathmandu. Core Activista volunteers met with nine constitutional assembly members to discuss hunger and lobby for including the right to food in the Nepali constitution. | |

6000 people participated in the various events
around World Food Day – including a street procession where the
Activistas took the lead. The one minute of noise in support of the
World’s one billion hungry people was made on World Food Day with
Hon. Makanjuola leading. |

Sierra Leone: Pre- world food day mobilization meetings were held for youth. On World Food Day a symposium and candle light vigil were organized. In the middle of the symposium at 1pm sharp the big noise started, 200 Activistas using cooking utensils made a minute of big noise to make their voices heard. The noise turned into chanting “we wan eat” meaning we want to eat. And later a song “angry dae na salone” meaning there is hunger in Sierra Leone. The sudden outburst took all by surprise including members of parliament present. 1000 people were attending and listening to the cries of the Activistas. |

The Gambia: A cross-country caravan with music, dramas, meetings and movies travelled through the Gambia leading up to WFD. On WFD an official meeting with UN representatives and government representatives took place. Here the messages and charters from the caravan will be delivered. The make noise event was integrated in the street procession in the biggest municipality of the Gambia on 16th of Oct. |
| UK: In Leeds city, two volunteers packed out the Wire nightclub and got everyone to make 1 minute's noise at 1am. 150 people joined the making noise. Furthermore they signed up more than 1000 people for the hungerFREE campaign |
Over 1 billion people live with hunger every day. On World food day
October 16th 2009 Activistas from all over the world joined hands
and made 1 minute of noise to tell the world, that we need to free
the hungry billion.
