World Food Day, Denmark

The spirits of the activista volunteers in Denmark were not dampened by the horrible winds and rains on Friday, during the World Food Day. People came to make noise so that the hungry and the starving could be freed. We hoped that our ' noise' reached the rightful ears and that something is indeed being done to ensure that every living and breathing human being can have access to food.Congratulations to all Activista volunteers around the world. Nobody can underestimate the power of the masses…See More

IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE, KENYA!

As the day for the Referendum draws near , I can not help but to pray for peace to reign during the period especially with the 2007 post election violence still very fresh in our minds. The country is already partitioned into two blocks; The red team who strongly oppose the draft constitution and the green team spearheaded by the President and the Prime Minister, supporting it. Emotions are already running high and battle swords have been drawn. War is inevitable.....

But before the… Continue

IT'S THE FESTIVE SEASON! BUT ARE WE ALL CELEBRATING?

The festive season is here with us again and most people around the world have grand plans about visiting family members and friends, having a wedding, going for holidays and FEASTING! In an African context this means going back home to the rural homes where countless chickens are slaughtered and crates of beers are consumed. Nyama Choma ( barbecue) is the famous dish during this time of the year.To most, it is eating, relaxing, laughing and enjoying whatever good things that life has… Continue

Hi Martina,

How are you doing, hope you are doing great, your page looks great, tell you what am gonna work on my page, its great to learn that you are doing great in Denmark, yes you are right the festive season is back again and people will be busy doing all that you have mentioned!!!!

I just wonder if this time round the good people around the world will consider giving a little of what they have to the poor and the suffering Kenyans who need a little food for their children???????

I just pray that as we engage in all kinds of celebrations, lets remember the unfortunate brothers and sisters living in abject poverty, lets show a little love, lets give a little support and God will give back to us in plenty!!!!!

Have a great time and keep the fire blazing!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone, my name is Martina Aloo Ooko from Kenya. Currently I am in Denmark for a global change education courtesy of MS Action Aid Denmark till December. In the past months I have heard very little about Activista but today we had the honour of being told more by two volunteers from Denmark. I must admit that they really caught my attention and interest, especially considering the fact that I come from Kenya, a country that is still trying to cope with devastating effects of drought and hunger.

I therefore would really like to join hands with other young people from all over the world in the fight against hunger. We have just been invited to take part in an activity here in Denmark which will be held in Friday. I must admit that I am really looking forward to it ( my first activity as an activista!)

When I go back home, I hope to join with other youths who are already participating in the activista activities.

I believe that however small our actions or efforts may seem to be, they eventualy bring changes to the lives of those who are starving in the world.

Looking forward to hearing a lot more from other activistas all over the world and doing as much as possible to be a part of this campaign!
